BREAKING: SANTORUM SUSPENDS CAMPAIGN

“Ladies and gentleman, we made a decision to get into this race at our kitchen table against the odds and we made a decision over the weekend that this presidential race is over, at least for me, and we will suspend our campaign.”

With low poll numbers leading into his home state of Pennsylvania, and his ailing daughter, Isabella, in the hospital, former Senator Rick Santorum suspended his GOP race today in a press conference airing as of this writing in Gettysburg, PA. Coming in second place in most races and doing well in more conservative Southern and Midwestern regions, Santorum’s exit leaves former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney the presumptive GOP nominee for President. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Congressman Ron Paul remain in the race, but are far too distant from Romney’s lead.

But don’t count Santorum out just yet. Santorum, notable for his harsh stance on social issues such as privacy, homosexuality, religion, and pornography recently said he would not object to being Romney’s Vice-Presidential pick, though he is up against several other choices, including Florida Senator Marco Rubio.
