James Badge Dale Cast In Iron Man 3…As A Villain?

2013 is going to be a very good year for James Badge Dale. The actor, who starred on Fox’s 24 and AMC’s Rubicon, as well as the miniseries, The Pacific, already has two surefire blockbusters coming out next summer. He has supporting roles in Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger and Marc Forster’s zombie adaptation, World War Z. Now he’s starring in Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 as US Army Lieutenant Colonel Eric Saven. In Marvel Comics, Saven’s body is destroyed by a landmine in his convoy. But he resurrected as a gun-wielding cybernetic mercenay Coldblood. Although he is saved by Project Ultra-Tech in the comics, it appears that storyline will be eliminated in favor of the Extremis storyline the movie is based on, and while it is unclear if he will become a villian or even become Coldblood, his appearance in the film suggests something critical will happen to him.

In Iron Man 3, billionaire industrialist – and certified Avenger – Tony Stark must save the world from a nanotech virus unleashed by a mysterious adversary. Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, and Ben Kingsley also star in the film coming May 3rd, 2013.

You can also catch World War Z – also starring Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Bryan Cranston, Matthew Fox, and David Morse – June 21st, 2013, and The Lone Ranger – also starring Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, Tom Wilkinson, Helena Bonham Carter, and William Fichtner – May 31st, 2013.
