Scientology has made the headlines recently due to the high profile divorce of actors Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. The subject will be sure to arise again when writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film hits theaters on October 12th, 2012. Loosely based on the rise of Scientology, The Master follows a drifter (the return of Joaquin Phoenix after his faux-retirement) who becomes the right hand man of a charismatic leader of a faith-based organization (Philip Seymour Hoffman) in post World War II America. But as the faith gains a strong following, the drifter soon begins to doubt the new church’s message, and the leader behind it. The Weinstein Company film also stars Amy Adams and Rami Malek.
Warner Brothers has a great marketing plan, releasing their most anticipated movies in the summer, and their trailers for their next big hit. This year is no different. With The Dark Knight Rises in theaters, the very first trailer for Man of Steel premiere in theaters.
From director Zack Snyder and producer Christopher Nolan comes the story of a young man’s long journey toward his destiny. Born on the dying planet of Krypton and sent away to be raised in humble beginnings by his adoptive Kansas parents, a young drifter with remarkable powers finds his way to the city of Metropolis and becomes the beacon of hope known as Superman when Kryptonian warlords threaten to enslave Earth.
Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix, and Russell Crowe star in the new telling of the Superman lore June 14th, 2013.
